Mr. Marx also has experience with commercial real estate disputes, quiet title, construction litigation, and insurance coverage disputes.

Mr. Marx has achieved successful outcomes for his clients both in front of juries and judges in courtrooms, as well as in arbitration and mediation.

Mr. Marx received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine. Mr. Marx then earned his law degree from UCLA School of Law.

Some of Mr. Marx’s recent cases include:

  • Successfully defending a corporate client in a month-long jury trial in the notoriously plaintiff friendly Los Angeles Superior Court involving a multi-million dollar commercial real estate fraud case, resulting in a highly favorable settlement after the jury began deliberations.
  • Winning a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction on behalf of a Southern California manufacturer against a competing company for misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition, then negotiating a six figure settlement for the client and permanently enjoining the defendant from its previous practices.
  • Part of trial team in six week jury trial defending restaurant in breach of lease case and prevailing on counter-claims, resulting in jury awarding net positive damages to the client, plus an award of all of the client’s attorneys’ fees and costs.
  • Successfully defended client against plaintiffs attempting to pierce the corporate veil and establish alter ego liability of corporation against CEO and sole shareholder.
  • Successfully appealed and set aside a seven figure default judgment against foreign tire manufacturing client.
  • Won a motion for summary judgment in arbitration on behalf of client resulting in return of six figures out of a commercial real estate purchase and sale gone bad.
  • Successfully obtained insurance coverage for client sued in multi-million dollar construction defect action from insurance carrier that initially declined to provide coverage.
  • Represented financial institution acting as trustee of a high net worth individual’s trust accused of breach of fiduciary duties resulting in dismissal of claims against client.

Mr. Marx is an active member of the California State Bar and is licensed to appear before all state and federal courts in California, as well as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  Prior to joining Callahan & Blaine, Mr. Marx was an attorney with a leading regional law firm based in Orange County, where he was a member of the business litigation practice group.
